Baby Einstein

I certainly don't think Baby Einstein videos are going to make Hadley smarter and I also don't think Hads watching 10 minutes of a baby video will hurt her either! Everything in moderation!

Every once in a while at home I'll put Hadley in her bumbo seat and will let her watch a Baby Einstein on my computer. It will only keep her attention for about 10 minutes, but when she's watching it she loves it. She gets so into it and it is hilarious. A few weeks ago I caught her on film- I laugh out loud every time I watch it. (Email subscribers, you'll have to go to the blog to see the video!)

Hadley's First Easter

We had a great first Easter with our little bunny. On Friday night we ate Lobster and King Crab Legs at my parents and it was a perfect spring night to spend outside.

Hadley in her travel  exersaucer- this will be great for the beach this summer!

On Saturday we went to dinner at the Gilmore's and had the annual lamb dinner. Caroline and I both forgot our cameras. Both girls were great and Hadley watched a little movie on Derek's iPad during dinner. She was silent and it was pretty hilarious!

Sunday, we put her in her sweet Easter dress and we went to the 10 am service. Hads did really good during the service and loved people watching and listening to all the songs. She was just smiling away at all the people that were looking at her. Such a ham!

Then we went to lunch and the Eutings. Jessica made a ham and all the fixings! One of my favorite meals of the year! Hadley watched another Baby Einstein during lunch and she was perfect again! After lunch the kids had their egg hunt and its hard to believe Hadley will join them next year! It feels like just yesterday the Euting kids were young. I found these pictures from Easter 2006.

Things have certainly changed in the last 5 years!

Abbey and Zoey are no longer the little girls I feel like they should be! They are two sweet young ladies that I know Hadley will look up to. They just love Hadley and are so sweet with her. They boys played blackjack outside while Mimi and the girls pampered Hadley. It was a perfect afternoon- we missed Jenny, Erik and the boys!

Sunday night we went to my parents for Ham meal number 2. The Easter bunny stopped by Nanny and Poppy's house and even left a present for me and Caroline! I hope Santa and the Easter bunny never stop leaving presents for us, hah.

It was a great weekend, exhausting but great! Hadley was perfect all weekend and is taking a 2.5 hour nap right now to catch up on sleep! Hope you had a great Easter weekend with loved ones!

Happy Easter

I am thankful for the cross because it has given us forgiveness.
I am thankful the tomb was empty because it gives us hope.
Thank you, Jesus!

Happy Easter from our little family to yours!

Hadley and Emily

I'm sure there will be many of these posts since Caroline and I spend so much time together with the girls. Hadley is now sitting up better and playing with toys and now playgroups are getting so fun! Today at Caroline's house I put Hadley in Em's little chair and Emily crawled right over and sat on Hadley's lap! It was so precious and hilarious and both girls thought they were so funny!

 Emily wouldn't stop clapping!

We didn't pose them, they did this on their own!

Pictures

In the last couple years I have really loved taking pictures. The only problem is I'm always the one taking the picture, so there aren't many pictures of me and Hadley. We were at the Arboretum a few weeks ago and our sweet photographer Kelli came to take some pictures of our mom group. I jumped in a few and I'm so glad. Here are our three favorites from the day.

5 Months

I can not believe I have a 5 month old. I guess that means I can't keep using the excuse that I just had a baby. I find myself using that a lot! Our life has changed so much in these last 5 months and I get so nostalgic about this time last year. Around Easter is when we told most of our families we were expecting and in a few short weeks sweet Emily will be one year old. I am in denial about that! I can not believe Em is growing up so fast and Hadley is just a few short months behind her!

We've had a lot of fun this month. Hadley is getting such a sweet personality. She is still sweet and laid back and very happy. Derek and I joke about how Hadley will never learn her real name because we use so many nicknames. Some of her nicknames are Hads, Haddy, Haddy-cake, Munchkin, Sugars...

Here is what life with our 5 month old is like:

Sleep: You are still a good sleeper, but you have started waking up once during the night for a quick feeding. We start bedtime around 8 and you still love being swaddled. You are so flexible and will do just fine if we have to put you to bed later. Around 1 you are wanting to eat, but you go right back to sleep. You'll sleep until about 7 to eat and go back to sleep until 10. You are still napping good during the day too!

Eating: This month your eating was very different. You are not nearly as interested in food as you have been. You are eating every 3-5 hours and it takes a long time to get you to finish your 4 ounces. We are planning on starting solids in a couple of weeks, but only if you will start drinking more milk during the day! You are only getting about 18-20 ounces in a 24 hour period, and that is on the low end of the recommended daily ounces.

Sizes: Just this week we have started making the switch to 3-6 month clothes! Your 0-3 still fits, but I'm just anxious to put you in the new clothes! You are still fitting in a size 1 diaper, but I put you in a 2 during the nighttime.

Things you love: You love the song "You are my sunshine", you love standing with help, you love sitting up with help, if the TV is on you love looking at it. Lately, we've been going on walks with Maverick in the baby carrier and you seem to love that too! You are such a happy baby that you love basically everything you do- except being in the carseat.

Activities: We do lots of playing now! You sit assisted with the boppy pillow and will play with your teething toys, books and stuffed animals. Also, once a day I put you in your highchair and you love looking outside while sitting in it.

New things you do: You make the sweetest expressions when I am talking to you, and if I'm in the room and you hear my voice you will search for me. When you find me you get so happy and have the biggest smile. You love standing and love to have your chubby legs as straight as they can go! You don't bend your legs much! You suck on your toesies and think its so funny if me or daddy do it to you. I'm hoping in the next few weeks you will start sitting unassisted.

Schedule: Your schedule during the day is very repetitive. You eat, play for about an hour and a half and then sleep for about 40-45 minutes. This happens every three hours and you are very predictable. We don't go off this schedule during the day. Your nighttime routine starts at about 8:30-9:00. We cuddle and wind down and after your last feeding I swaddle you and most night you will fall asleep while I am taking a shower and you are in your bouncer. I put you in your crib and you are out for the night! (Well until 1 or so!)

As much as I want you to stay a little baby, I am so excited for the next stage. Everyday gets better and I can't imagine life without you. We love you so much!

Lately

Lately, Hadley has been doing so many new things. She is rolling like a maniac, eating her toes and staying awake a lot longer.

This age is SO fun. I wish I could keep her this age, but I know I will think every new age is the best! One new thing that she has been doing is staring at Maverick. All the girl wants to do is stare at the dog or lay down next to her. Maverick usually loves it when Hadley pays attention to her, but sometimes she will pout.
Maverick feeling really sorry for herself

Here are some recent cute outfits and pictures!

4 1/2 months old...I can't believe it!

Spaceship

Ever since I've had the baby all I can think about is baby gadgets! Swings, strollers, highchairs, bottles... this list could go on forever. Recently, I've been obsessed with finding the perfect highchair since we are starting solids with Hadley in a month or so. I scoured blogs, reviews sites, and quizzed my mommy friends. I finally found the perfect high chair. I had to order it and it came in this weekend I spent this morning putting it together. Derek says it looks like a spaceship, but I LOVE it! It doesn't look like a highchair, it looks like furniture! (You can't tell in the pictures, but the seat is brown leather so it matches our family room perfectly!)

We put Hadley in it and she loved it!

We play with toys on it for now!
